Seven Ways to Wear Leopard Print Pants
Happy Thanksgiving Week and Black Friday Sales Week! I feel like all the sales have already started this year. It’s time to start crossing off my Christmas list! Do you have anything in particular you are looking for during the sales? Other than gifts, I’ll be looking for a new Christmas tree, and a few items for the house.
If you are looking for a comfy and dressy pair of pants to mix into your holiday and office wardrobe, look no farther than these leopard print pants! They have an elastic smock waist and super flowy material to make them so comfy! The cut of these pants and material help keep them a bit dressy. Heads up, these are cropped pants. On my petite height, these fit perfectly like ankle pants. If you are taller than me, these may have a more cropped look.
Trying to figure out what to wear with leopard print pants may seem like a pretty big task. Don’t let the print scare you! I have a variety of both casual and work outfits put together for you featuring all different kinds of tops. Check them out and let me know in the comments which is your favorite outfit!
Seven Ways to Wear Leopard Print Pants
WITH A SHORT BOXY SWEATER
A light colored top is a great way to tone down the bold print. This slightly boxy ivory sweater was the perfect shade to pair with this leopard print. I opted for the shorter sweater since both my top and bottom have a bit of volume.

WITH A FITTED LONG SWEATER
If you are worried about boxy making you look to well boxy, a long fitted sweater will help define your shape a little. I opted for a black sweater to help make the dark color in the print really pop.

WITH A STRIPED TANK & LONG CARDIGAN
Stripes are one of my go to patterns for a good print mix! The long green cardigan helps add a punch of color to the look.

WITH A BLACK BLAZER & WHITE CAMI
Hello Office Friendly! A black blazer and white cami is the perfect way to turn a printed pair of pants into a work friendly look.

WITH A DENIM JACKET & BLACK TANK TOP
Looking for a more casual outfit idea? Reverse the work outfit with a casual denim jacket and fitted tank top to ease these pants into weekend attire.

WITH A NAVY FITTED TEE
If you want to add a little bit of color, navy blue is a great choice. It provides a little color without taking away from the statement fact of the leopard print in the pants.

WITH A PURPLE CAMI
For a dressy weekend look, a strappy cami works really well with these looser fitting pants. I wanted to showcase another color option with this muted purple top. Since the pants are a statement maker, my color choices will lean more towards non-bright, almost like muted colors. Purple always gives me a luxe feel and is a great choice.

Six Ways to Wear a Pleated Midi Skirt
When I wore this pleated midi skirt a few weeks ago, someone mentioned having the skirt and not being able to come up with outfit ideas for it. The only idea they had was to tuck in a fitted top and pair with heels. I knew I had to turn this skirt into a multi-outfit post then and there. A pleated midi skirt is way more versatile then I sometimes think it gets credit for. With a few simple swaps, you can take this skirt from the office to weekends to your next special event.
Sizing note on the skirt featured in this post, I sized up two full sizes. With a pleated skirt, I will often size up one. I want the pleats to lay flat over my hips to create a more slimming look. If they bend as sometimes happens in my regular size, it could create an illusion of a wider hip. This skirt also runs small, so I went with two sizes up. I also like the bit of extra room in the waist for tucking in tops.
Six Ways to Wear a Pleated Midi Skirt
WITH AN OVERSIZED CROPPED SWEATER
For the colder fall and winter months, pair your pleated midi skirt with a cozy oversized knit sweater. Opt for a shorter sweater that will hit just a few inches below the waist of the skirt to maintain your proportions. Pleated midi skirts tend to have a straight overall look with a slimmer top and long visible lines from the pleats. A boxy top can help add balance to the look by adding volume. For this neutral top, I added in a green stone necklace to help pull some of the color out of the skirt.

WITH A FITTED LONG SWEATER
Another sweater option is a fitted long sweater. Your top should lay comfortably over the skirt and hit just below the hips. This styling option will change up the look of your skirt and give it a more straight look and downplay some of the statement flare of the skirt. I like how it creates the illusion that you may be wearing a dress. With the longer top, I added in a long necklace just to add a little color and break up the top a little.

WITH A COLORFUL SWEATER
With so many colors in this skirt, the easiest color choice would be a neutral like white, ivory, or black. Don’t be afraid to play with color on this one. For a multi-color skirt, wear a top that matches one of the colors in your skirt to bring out that color more. Notice how the bright blue of my sweater really brings out the blue in the skirt. If you’re skirt is a solid color, opt for a complimentary color. I tend to match cool tones together or warm tones together.

WORK OUTFIT
All three of the previous outfits are office friendly, but I wanted to showcase a jacket outfit as well. I know some more professional office have requirements related to needing more of a suit look. For this longer skirt, I would also look to wear a longline blazer and one with a bit more of a fitted look. As for the top underneath, you could go simple with a white cami or add in color like a dark green or dark violet color.

CASUAL OUTFIT
This skirt may have an all dressed up vibe, but you can easily make it work in a casual outfit by styling it with more casual pieces. A denim jacket is one of my easiest tip for dressing down a look. Booties are another great styling tip for creating a more casual look. Since the skirt is lighter and long, I opted for a lighter shade bootie. To add a little print mix fun, I paired this with a horizontal striped tank to contrast the vertical lines of the pleats.

DATE NIGHT, HOLIDAY, OR WEDDING GUEST OUTFIT
What about special events? Turn this skirt into the perfect holiday or wedding guest outfit by adding a fitted top with a high neckline or bodysuit. My ruffle neck sleeveless sweater is one of my go to tops to dress up a look. To make this outfit party friendly and not just another work look, I added in some fun statement earrings and my silver heels.

Chic Ivory Sweater

Well ladies, you are looking at my last winter outfit inspiration post of the season. Later this week, I am officially moving us into spring, and I’m ready for it! We had a mild winter which I always find so style confusing. It’s winter so I want to pull out my sweaters, coats, and boots, but sometimes it’s warm enough for a short sleeve tee and jeans. I really gravitated towards lighter sweaters this season including this super chic ivory sweater.
It’s a lightweight knit so great for the transitional times of the season or when it’s not quite making it to the normal cold winter weather. I love all the details in this sweater like the boatneck neckline, texture detailing on the front, and batwing sleeves. It easily dresses up any outfit. You can wear this to work with pencil skirt, evening out with a light colored pleated midi skirt, or create a business casual look with jeans and heels. If you are a fan of winter neutrals, this ivory sweater would be so good with a pair of white jeans and nude colored boots or heels.
We usually get one last cold front towards the end of February. Hopefully, I will get a chance to wear this sweater out a few more times. The high today is expected to be 80 though, so Houston we may be officially hitting Spring! I already started putting together some fun Spring looks to share with ya’ll, and just a warning – prints are in our future this season. So get ready for it! I can’t wait to kick off the Spring season this week!

How to Dress Down a Velvet Blazer

I tend to be the friend who dresses a little extra. When a gathering call for something casual, I’m probably going to find a way to and in something extra, fancy, a good statement maker. I love finding pieces that I can dress up or down. One of my favorite pieces to dress down is a blazer. The graphic tee and blazer trend caught on in the past few years, and I love it. I think this trend is popular for the more traditional material stye for blazers. So today, I’m sharing some of the ways I dress down those special fabrics with how to dress down a velvet blazer. These tips could also work for materials like sequins, tweed, and jacquard.
First, let’s talk about this teal green velvet blazer. It was an amazing sale find!! Every January, local boutiques in Houston gather at a convention center for one big epic sale. A local sorority alum group organizes it and a portion of proceeds benefit a charity. A girlfriend and I have made it a tradition of going because you can score some amazing deals like this jacket. It retails for close to $400, and I got it for $75. The color is gorgeous, it fits like a glove, and I can’t walk away from a great velvet blazer that’s under $100. (FYI – I didn’t find it online for that amazing price, but I did find it on sale!)
Normally pieces like this one are on the pricier side which is why I like to find many ways to style them. This jacket is going to be great to pair with dresses, suits, and jumpsuits for events and holiday parties, but I wanted to make this jacket work for more than just parties. So how do I dress down a velvet blazer into a chic and effortless outfit…
- Pair with a solid t-shirt in a complimentary color. Black and white or ivory are easy choices for this combo. If you like to color mix, you can try mixing in another color. For this teal, I think lighter pastel colors would work beautifully. For the more adventurous style gals, you can also pair a graphic tee underneath your blazer.
- Add simple jewelry pieces. The jacket is going to be the statement maker on a casual outfit, so keep your jewelry minimal and simple. I opted for my classic gold stud earrings and a short necklace.
- Opt for blue jeans. Black and white jeans can sometimes make a look appear a little dressier, so opt for more casual blue colors or distressed jeans.
- Pair with a casual flat. My normal route for dressy casual looks is to add in a heel. This jacket has a very dressy look. So to keep this look more weekend casual, I opted for a pair of flats to keep my look from being too dressy casual. You could opt for a neutral flat or sneaker. I thought the leopard print complimented the color and style of the jacket, so I decided to add it in. The fun print also helps add to the dressed down feel of the look.
These few simple styling tips can have you looking fabulous and casual for brunch with your gal pals in no time. If you try out this look and share on Instagram, I would love if you could tag me (@karenkocich) in your story or post so I can check it out. I love seeing how you take the looks I share and use them to inspire your wardrobe and outfits.
