Fall Business Casual Outfit

Hello friends! How’s the week going so far for you? We are having a pretty rainy week with some chances for light street flooding, so it’s been a stay at home and indoors week for me. Hopefully, it will all clear out just in time for the weekend!
As we are all prepping our closets for fall, I wanted to share a cute outfit formula for a fall business casual outfit. Now business casual can mean different things at different workplaces, so jeans may not always work. My past business casual environments have allowed jeans, but I have friends in more professional offices where business casual means no suit but still skirts and slacks. With that in mind, my business casual looks do occasionally include jeans. You can easily change out the jeans for a nice pair of slacks too.
For the jeans I wear to work, I opt for dark wash or black jeans, no-distressing, and not too tight. I really love bootcut and flare dark wash jeans for the office. I think they have a very professional look to them. As for skinny jeans, I would wear them but I usually pair them with a flowy or longer style top, again this is going to depend on the dress code allowances of your office.
For fall, a structured sweater with a good fit is a great business casual option. I opt for solids and sophisticated prints and avoid anything similar to a graphic style tee. Polka dots, stripes, and florals are great prints to consider. For colors, I would wear all of them, but you may want to consider staying away from flashy neon colors if it doesn’t fit your office vibe. With that being said, don’t forget to keep a little of your personality in your work wardrobe!
A nice pair of heels or flats is a great way to finish off your business casual look. As a shoe gal, my heels are usually wear I let my style shine, so all the colors and prints are in my choice box. This is where I like to let my personality show through a little. Browns, black, and nude colored shoes are a great professional color choice if you don’t want to do a statement shoe.
If you are new to a work environment, check out what others are wearing to gauge the business casual level of the office. I personally think business casual really lets you flex your style muscles and gives you lots more flexibility in what you wear. It also can help you create a more versatile wardrobe, since many of the pieces can also be worn on weekends.
What is your work dress code?

Black & Gray Striped Long Cardigan

Hello Ladies! How was your weekend? Mine was filled with football, workouts, and lots of healthy eating. A few friends and I are doing a sugar detox this month, so my weekend meals and football snacks received a healthy makeover. The first week of my sugar detox left me super tired everyday, but Sunday I started noticing a little more energy and less cravings for junk food. So it seems to be working the way I had hoped.
Now let’s talk fashion! One of my favorite ways to instantly take a look from casual to dressy casual is with a pair of heels. For fall, a black pair of heels is perfect to dress up your casual looks a little. With casual outfits in mind, I try to find heels with texture, cutouts, or a cute detail to differentiate them from a normal black work pump. Although, I wear this pair to both work and on weekends.
I picked up this black and gray striped cardigan during the Nordstrom Sale. This color keeps going in and out of stock, but I did see it back last night. I love the thick, bold stripe pattern because it is a little different than my other solid cardigans. The black and gray color keeps it more neutral and helps it pair well with a few other colors like pink, burgundy, or emerald green. This cardigan would also be cute paired with a shift dress for the office.
If you are starting to prep your closet for fall, be sure to check out Friday’s post and download my free fall wardrobe basics checklist! It will make sure you have the items to create outfits like the one in this post and more during the fall season.

Flared Bootcut Jeans for Petites

Happy Happy Friday!! I’m so excited for the extra long weekend ahead. We had some storms sweep through Wednesday, and they left us with some pretty nice weather. I plan to take full advantage with pool and patio time. Tonight, I’m heading out to a little birthday dinner with my boyfriend. We are heading to a yummy Houston restaurant that we both have been wanting to try out. It should be the perfect start to the weekend!
Alright, where are all my petite friends at? I have finally found a cute pair of slightly flared jeans made for us petite gals. (Side Note: They come in regular length too.) I like dark wash jeans with as slight flare or bootcut leg. It’s a great jean for dressy casual events and business casual office attire. Most of the denim brands I tend to wear do not have petite sizing and alterations can change the look of the flare leg. I’ve been hearing good things about the affordable Wit & Wisdom denim brand at Nordstrom, so I decided to give this pair a try during the Anniversary Sale.
Y’all these jeans are so comfy!! I ordered a 2 which is my normal jean size, and I do think they feel the slightest bit loose which may have to do with their stretch material design. They aren’t baggy or anything. I’ve worn them multiple times now, and I have not noticed them stretching out or sagging. But if you are between sizes, you might want to consider going down. The length is perfect on me with a pair of heels, and so is the cute bootcut flare leg. These jeans are from their ab-solution line, so they also have a hidden elastic type waistband to help offer more support at the waist.
As for my cute off the shoulder top, it’s a convertible design so you can wear it as off the shoulder or a cowl neck. It’s kind of hard to get the off the shoulder version just right and to stay in place. The cowl neck look would be perfect for work and to partner with skirts. Anytime I see Gibson Cozy, I know I’m going to get chic and oh so soft and comfy. This one did not disappoint in softness!
Alright ya’ll have a fabulous weekend, and don’t forget to take advantage of some of those Labor Day Sales!

February Reader Favorites

Hello Hello! I thought it would be fun to do something a little different and share your favorite items from the month of February. I always love looking at which items and styles you all are gravitating towards each month.
So how do I figure out which items ya’ll loved?
I use an affiliate program called Rewardstyle. If you click on a link from my blog or social media that takes you to a product page on a retailer’s site, Rewardstyle is able to track that your visit to that site originated from me. The Rewardstyle affiliate program pays me a commission per purchase made. Basically, if you click on one of my links and end up making a purchase, I earn a small commission.
Because I use this service I also have access to certain data analytics. This means I can see and keep track of which items are clicked on and which lead to a purchase. I do not see who clicked on the link or what items might have been purchased. For example, if you click on my latest pair of heels and then purchase a new red lipstick too, I will only be able to see that a purchase was made and that the heels link is how you arrived to the retailer’s site. It’s kind of similar to how a salesperson may earn commission in the store.
I’m a numbers gal, so I love diving into all the data every month. These analytics allow me to keep track of what ya’ll loved and didn’t so much love. If I see one item is clicked on and/or purchased more, I might consider sharing a restyle over on Instagram. These commissions are an easy way for you to support my blog without having to do anything extra and a way for me to cover the variety of expenses that come with running a blog. So if you have ever made a purchase through one of my links know that I am so grateful for you and your support of my blog.
If you’d like to see me share your reader favorites more often, leave me a comment and let me know!
