Monthly Archives: December 2016
Well after a wonderful week off, it is back to the office today. Give me ALL the coffee!! The weekend was filled with parties, family, and friends, so not too shabby of a vacation conclusion. I can’t believe it’s been close to 2 months since I shared a little Instagram roundup with ya’ll. I tried to pick looks that might inspire some winter outfit ideas. Bonus, a few of the items are currently on sale! I also snuck in a couple office looks. You can easily add a blazer or cardigan to make these work in cooler temps.
For those of you who follow along on Instagram, you can always shop these looks via email with LiketoKnow.it. I wrote a full post about how it works HERE. Not intersted in LiketoKnow.it? Happy Friday! I’m actually a little sad today is Friday. I have been on staycation vacation all week, so it means today is the last day. 🙁 I try to take a week or at least a few days every December to prep for the upcoming holidays. It was a week spent gift shopping, decorating, and a start to my Christmas cards which I hope to finish today. I strongly dislike the madness of stores during December, so I love having a day off during the week to tackle some of my in-store shopping. I do as much online as I can for holiday gifts.
Most of the gift exchange parties that I am headed to this year have a $25 gift limit. I found some really cute ideas while shopping which inspired some of the above holiday gift ideas under 25. I own the striped tumbler and love it for road trips. It would make a cute gift idea for a teacher or friend. I have been thinking about trying an oil diffuser in my bedroom, so I included one because I think they are pretty neat. I have seen these carry-on cocktail kits in stores, and they are pretty cool idea. They include everything but the booze and soda to make a cocktail in flight. I have more ideas over in my Holiday Shop Under $25 page too.
I feel like I still have 101 things to get done before my vacation ends, so I’m keeping this post semi short and sweet today. I hope ya’ll have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

I picked this fabulous wrap coat up at the Nutcracker Market last month. I typically don’t buy clothes for myself from the market, but I do always stop by Chloe Dao’s booth. She is a local Houston designer who happened to win Season 2 of Project Runway. Chloe was my favorite designer that season and not just because she was from Houston. I love the fit and structure of her designs.
Since it’s only super cold for about a month in Houston, I love the idea of a short-sleeve wrap coat for winter. What I loved about this one is that I immediately pictured about 3 different ways to style it. I love styling it as more of a statement top with leather leggings for a chic holiday party look. At the market, Chloe tied it for me a little higher above my waist in a bow. It was really cute, but I haven’t quite been able to replicate it yet. I’m practicing though.
A couple other ways I would wear this style coat is over a simple solid color sheath dress. You could tie it or leave it open to create different looks. I wore a plain tee, distressed jeans, and flats to the market, and it looked really cute with this coat worn more like an open long cardigan. One important thing to keep in mind if you plan on wearing your coat as part of your outfit, make sure what is underneath is still cute if you need to take it off. In this post, my leather leggings and black blouse can still stand on their own as a chic holiday party look.
Since I picked this up at the Nutcracker market, it is not available online. I did find a few similar styles for you though. If you are in Houston, Chloe has a boutique in Rice Village that you can check to see if still available. Thanks for stopping by ya’ll!

I always loved picking out my Christmas dress as a kid. We would get to pick out the prettiest dresses with some combo of velvet, satin, tulle, and lace. Of course, for many years, my sister and I were forced to buy matching dresses. We would have our Christmas photos in them and wear them to church on Christmas morning. It was a very special occasion that required a very special dress.
Even though many years have passed since my sister and I wore our matching red and white dresses to Christmas mass, I still like to occasionally buy a nice new Christmas morning dress. These days I look for one that I can wear to the office or a holiday party too.
The ruffle sleeve and dot print on this navy dress took me back a bit to that Christmas dress memory. It was that something special that made it not just some ordinary work dress, but a perfect Christmas morning church dress. Now that we are finally starting to get some cool weather, I figured my go to black tights were the perfect match for this outfit. When I wear black tights, I almost always grab for these dress booties.
I wanted to also create a look that could work for an office holiday party, so I grabbed these gorgeous berry statement earrings and clutch to add some fun color to the overall look. You could also pair this dress with a pair of nude heels and continue to wear it year round.
