I did it! I wore my white denim out of the house! We celebrated my dad’s birthday yesterday, and I decided that was the perfect event for their debut. I mean family is kind of forced to put up with my crazy and irrational fears of wearing white denim, right?!? I have good news to report, I did not sit in or spill anything on my jeans! Yep made it through the whole event STAIN FREE! A definite first time out success!
My outfit today is probably one of the looks I was most excited about for my new white denim. I think bright colors look so much more bright and vibrant with white pants. Don’t believe me, check out the last time I wore this top on the blog in the Restyled and Remixed section at the end of this post! The top just looks more colorful to me. I feel like white denim provides a blank canvas that is perfect for a splash of color. I love my dark colored jeans, but I am really loving how crisp and clean the white denim looks. I definitely think they are better fit than the dark jeans for spring and summer daytime events! I have some brunches and family parties coming up, and an outfit like this one is going to be perfect! I was so happy to hear that I was not the only one who fears wearing white pants. I have enjoyed styling my white denim, so I am considering these spotless white jeans from Joe’s Jeans. They claim to be stain resistant! Has anyone tried them? Are they really stain resistant and worth the price tag?

This outfit came together as a complete last minute trying to make it work sort of accident. That is a mouthful! I used to wear this top with a long black tank top underneath it. I normally do not wear a lot of prints, and I am definitely very new in the whole print mixing thing. About a year ago, I was most likely running late (because that is usually when some of my favorite outfits are born) and realized all my black tanks were dirty. In my I need to be out the door mode, I decided to try this striped tank on with my striped top to see if it would work. I do not think I have ever worn a solid tank top under this French Connection top again! For me, this outfit is a huge print mixing win! I know it’s just stripes on stripes, but it’s a baby step into the print mixing big leagues. I always find it interesting that some of my favorite layered looks come from times when I was in a hurry and did not have time to second guess if these things really go together or not. Maybe I should spend that extra five minutes playing with my dog in the mornings and giving her even more belly rubs than I already do, a beautiful outfit could be born out of the rush to not be late that typically follows. Sometimes it’s all in the details! I swoon over outfit pieces with details, whether it be lace, sequins, beading or embroidery. I found this top last fall at local Houston boutique Pomp & Circumstance. I loved the embroidered detailing of it. I like that the detailing is just the right amount, you know not overdoing it, but enough to catch your eye. I also love that it has a little movement and flow to the top. This top and my flared jeans are a favorite for casual Friday’s at work. Even better with seventies style becoming popular again, I have an outfit ready to go! This top is not available, but I linked another one that I love from them with beautiful detailing.
Also, I have to mention my Rocksbox jewelry pieces this month! The gold earrings and cuff bracelet were part of my box, as well as the necklace from this post. I LOVE these earrings! I think I wore them everyday the first week I received them! I also really like the cuff bracelet. One of my reviews of the bracelets I have received was about how they are all a little big. I really feel like they listened by sending me a cuff that can be slightly sized for my smaller wrist size. Rocksbox has agreed to extend my first month free offer, so take advantage while you can! I have a confession; I really dislike having to tuck my shirt in! Sometimes just because it’s annoying and sometimes out of pure laziness. While this often causes me to lean towards buying tops that do not need to be tucked in, sometimes you come across a gorgeous top like this bow top one or even just your regular button down cotton work shirts. I am constantly trying to think of ways to wear these work tops untucked without looking unprofessional. It is my deconstructed office style. I think skinny work pants go a long way to helping this look not come off as frumpy. When I am wearing my regular work pants with a slight flare to the bottom and an untucked shirt, the look has no shape. If I wear this top with my other work pants or a skirt, I feel it needs to be tucked in to help define the waist. Otherwise the overall look just feels not complete. With my skinny pants though, it just feels like a more laid back office look. I think the tapered skinny leg really helps to show off a little bit of your body shape, so you do not need the defined waist. It is a great pant that helps you be a little lazy without looking it.
Size note on my Loft skinny pants, they definitely stretch with wear! I think my next pair I am going to buy a little tighter than they should be so they do not look so baggy by the end of the day!
