I did it!  I bought my first pair of white denim! And now that I shot them for this post, I can wear them in real life! Truth- white pants terrify me!  The main reason I refused to wear them before taking these photos was pure fear that I would spill on them.  It is also a major reason why I have never bought a pair. And honestly, I am a still scared to wear them.  What if I sit in something?  Or spill my wine/food on them?  Or get splashed by the mud caused by our recent rain storms?  Yep, I am totally an over-worrier!  I decided a few months ago to take the plunge and find a pair of white denim to try out.  I love outfits with white denim!  They really go with every color of the rainbow.  I had already planned like a dozen outfits before I even found a pair.  It took me a while to find a pair because I wanted them to be a thicker material, have some stretch, and be under $100.  I found this pair from DSTLD which is an online only store.  Because they do not sell in stores, their prices are minus the department store price mark-up.  It is a huge perk to buying from these kind of brands.  I liked that they offered free shipping and free return shipping. They even sent me a separate bag to return them in (which I ended up needing to return my first pair).  Just a heads up, I preferred the fit of one size up.  My normal size fit just fine, but I wanted a white jean with a little more room than my normal skinny jeans.   I feel like white has a little less forgiveness, and I wouldn’t mind if they looked a little bit loose.

As soon as I found the right fit, I began the mission of finding the right top!  How pretty is this Anthropologie top??  I really like the all neutral look, and this top fit the bill perfectly!  Plus, it covers my seat area, just in case I sit in anything.  That brings me to my vintage floral locket!  I briefly mentioned this locket in my post on Wednesday.  I had buyers remorse that I did not purchase it, so I went back and I am soooo happy it was still available.  It is so gorgeous!  You can probably see why I couldn’t get it out of my head for like a week or so until I could go back and buy it. While this outfit would look awesome with a pop of color necklace, I really liked keeping my necklace in the same neutral color pallete.  Now to be brave enough to wear these pants out the door!!!  Happy Friday Ya’ll!!

Happy Earth Day!  I am a big recycler! I was over the moon excited when my neighborhood started a recycling program last year.  Every week I pile plastic bottles, cardboard boxes and a wine bottle or two in my recycling bin.  I love having the opportunity to do my part to help save our planet.  My favorite form of recycling hands down is shopping vintage.  I have found some awesome vintage shops in Houston like Queen of Heirs for jewelry and most recently Cheeky Vintage for all things fashion.  I stopped by a few weeks ago for a fellow blogger buddies event and fell in love with a vintage locket that will be in Friday’s post.  I got carried away socializing with other bloggers and did not purchase it.  I couldn’t get it out of my head, so I went back about a week later in hopes it would still be there.  That is the thing about vintage shops, all items are one of a kind.  If you do not buy it this trip, it may not be there when you come back.  Luckily for me, the locket was still there!! It must have been fate! I decided to take a closer look around the store for other fun vintage finds.  I stumbled across this blue dress.   I wasn’t 100% sure about it at first, mainly because I had no idea where I would wear it.  But I loved it and kept circling back to it.  I finally decided to try it on, and I was immediately sold!  The dress is a shear layer over a blue slip.  I immediately knew I could take just the shear layer and make another fabulous outfit!  My favorite part of this dress, it is one of a kind.  I do not have to worry about walking in to an event and seeing someone else in my dress!  If you live in the Houston area and are a fan of vintage fashion, I highly recommend stopping into Cheeky Vintage!  The ladies there are amazing!!  They will let you just walk around and admire all the amazing vintage pieces which I love!  I sometimes get lost in the clothes when I shop so I definitely appreciate the opportunity to get lost in a store especially a vintage shop full of such fabulous pieces!  It is almost like a fashion museum! AND if you do go to the store, you MUST check out the sequins closet!!  I seriously want everything in there!!!!  Since this dress is vintage, I have no link to buy, but I did link the store’s website so you can peruse their vintage selection no matter where you live.  Happy Earth Day!!!

I cannot believe I waited so long to buy a chambray shirt!  I am constantly coming up with new ways to wear it.  When I recieved my latest Rocksbox, I immediately knew the edgy look of this necklace would balance perfectly with the casual look of the chambray shirt.  I originally thought about pairing the two with a pair of black skinny jeans and some sky high pumps, but thought it would be fun to find a way to wear this outfit to work.  When I looked to the skirts section of my closet, my black textured skirt quickly caught my eye as the perfect fit to complete my edgy but casual office outfit.  I have paired this chambray with my colorful work skirts, but for some reason partnering it with this black skirt felt like I was living on the edge and breaking the professional attire rules.  Ha!  This skirt’s textured detailing and black color always gives more of a professional suit feel to me.  I felt like the combination of the laid back chambray shirt and black suit skirt was living up to the vibe of the  necklace.   It has spikes for a little edge, but also black and diamond-like stones for a little sophistication.  These three pieces together were definitely a perfect match!

I bought this dress a few years ago to wear to a backyard party in the middle of July. It was one of those summers where the temperatures were already at 100 degrees in June.  I wanted a light sundress that would be good for an early evening BBQ.  I fell in love with this floral pattern because it has a darker background yet still lots of bright pops of color.  I paired it with wedges and a clutch and had a fantastic time at my party.  A month or so passed and I was dying to wear this dress again.  I decided to restyle the dress from a weekend to office look.  The bare shoulders and thin straps were my first office issue to tackle.  The easiest fix for me was a short sleeved cardigan.  I love how the purple shade compliments the floral color pattern of the dress.  This cardigan is super lightweight and short sleeved so it works in warmer months.  I wear this cardigan quite a bit in Spring and early Fall trying to get a few more wears out of some of my favorite dresses!  I plan on looking for a few different colors this year.  I also have a black and a white short sleeved cardigan because those colors go with everything!  I have recently seen some fun white and dark pink blazers in stores and on friends, and I think they would also be a great way to make a summer dress more professional.  The next change to make this office ready was the shoes.  I can get away with wearing wedges in my office, but I know most are not so lucky.  I swapped my sandals for a peep-toe nude pump.  I chose nude because I love how it elongates the leg.   This dress also looks good with dark brown heels.  Best part of this outfit, you can easily transition to drinks on a patio after work by simply taking off your cardigan.  It is just a small add and a quick swap, and you can take your favorite sundresses and make them a little more office friendly.
