Tips for Dressing Up a Cardigan

A girlfriend of mine and I were chatting a few weeks ago about how cozy and comfy long cardigans are for fall and winter. Her one issue with them is how to create a dressier look with one. I think many people instantly think casual outfit with booties and tshirts when they think of a cardigan outfit. She asked for some tips to dress up her jeans and cardigan looks and the idea for this post was born.
One way to easily dress up a long cardigan for fall is to layer it over a material like silk, satin, or lace. These materials have a dressy factor on their own and will give your cardigan a slightly more luxe look when partnered together. The deep v and cross neck detail on this satin top also helps amp up the statement factor of this look.
Another way to dress up a cardigan is to add a killer pair of shoes. I usually lean towards a great pair of heels to dress up an outfit. Not a heels person, grab an animal print or colorful pair of pointed toe flats.
Last tip, add some great jewelry. You can stick to your classic solid pieces or add in some colorful statement pieces. Either way, jewelry is another easy way to dress up any outfit especially a long cardigan.

Call all my cardigan lovers! This post is for you! Ya’ll know I have quite the cardigan collection that I happily add to every year. I tend to get cold easily, so I usually try and incorporate a cardigan into many of my outfits even if I just keep it tucked away in my purse. This time of year when it’s cool morning and hot days, a cardigan is such a must! Over the years, I’ve added an array of colors and a couple prints. Lately, I’ve been adding in a few neutrals that will work with a variety of prints and bold colors.
I have found so many cute long cardigans this season, so I decided a round up was in order! Gray is a color I am wanting to add more of, and ya’ll I found some super cute ones! The star print is probably my favorite just because it’s different and kind of a statement maker. The drape front one will be perfect to dress up a look and for the office.
If you want to venture out of the land of neutrals, printed cardigans are super popular right now! Leopard print and thick color block stripes are the ones I see the most. It’s a fun way to add in a pop of print to a solid outfit. You could also print mix like add a striped tee under the leopard print. A bold colored cardigan is also a fabulous color pop choice. Personally, I love the burgundy ones this time of year. It’s a color that mixes well with others. I pair mine with navy, gray, pink, and ivory tons all season long.

A Chic Way to Style a Cropped Jacket

A few years ago, I saw a look like this one on Pinterest and immediately began a quest to find the perfect cropped tweed style jacket to recreate the look. Every time I would find the perfect jacket, the price tag was usually not so perfect. I had such an exact idea in my head, and I started to think I would never find the jacket in my desired price range. Ever get like that where you have something in your head, and then spend hours, days, in my case years trying to find it.
When I found this one, I could not believe my luck. It was the exact style and color I wanted and a pretty decent price. Here’s the downside for ya’ll, I apparently was not the only one searching for this jacket and it sold out before it even made it to my doorstep. I’m going to keep my eyes out for a restock, and I’ll share over on Instagram when it happens!
This jacket is not a true tweed but a knit with houndstooth print that reminds me of a tweed like look. It has cute fringe details on the sleeves and faux pocket. It’s an open jacket with one sparkly button at the top. This white top and black jeans and boots combo is the outfit I have been trying to recreate for a cute fall or holiday look. It’s such a chic way to style a cropped jacket. I also think this jacket will work to dress up a t-shirt or pair with a fitted dress or pencil skirt for work. The knit design keep it lightweight and easy to move in which I really like.

Comfy Fall Outfit with Pink Sneakers

Happy Friday friends! Don’t be alarmed, I’m not only wearing flat shoes in today’s post, but flat sneakers. Yes it is true, I do on occasion like a really comfy pair of flat shoes for running errands or attending certain fall events that require lots of walking and standing. I recently added 3 new pairs of sneakers to my closet because I had worn out my 2 older pairs. Don’t worry, my heels, booties, and wedges are not going anywhere!
I find casual sneakers are perfect for running errands on weekends. When adding casual sneakers to my wardrobe, I try to find pairs that can work with jeans, leggings, shorts, and dresses. These pink sneakers fit the bill on this one. First off, super cute with a casual jeans and tee outfit, but they also work well with shorts and casual dresses. I did find they run a bit big and suggest going down half a size.
Keeping with my comfy fall outfit theme of the day, I paired my sneakers with a super comfy and cozy gray knit tee. The tie front design is great for my petite height especially when paired with a flat shoe, since I’m losing that long leg illusion from a heel. In addition to errand running, this outfit would be great for travel, kid’s weekend events, or a casual family day.
Speaking of family day, I have a weekend filled with family activities from my aunt’s birthday celebration to a family reunion. A comfy fall outfit like this one will definitely be on deck for at least one maybe both of my family events this weekend. I hope you guys have a great one and thanks for stopping by!
