An Easy Way to Mix Prints

We made it to Friday Ya’ll!!
Let’s talk about this outfit and my easy way to mix prints. I LOVE mixing prints usually opting for one print in my top and another in my bottom. If you are new to print mixing or not quite comfortable with it yet, I wanted to offer you a simple way to start mixing and build your confidence in your print mixing skills.
Start with your top and pick one print. For this outfit, I chose this fun side twist striped top. Then pick an accessory item, like a belt, shoes, or purse, to add in a secondary print. I added in my floral print shoes. FYI – I wear these floral heels SO MUCH! If you are considering a pair, do it!!! It’s amazing how many outfits you can make them work with, like this one for example.
The key to this easy print mix is to have one dominant print, the stripes in this look, and let your second print be a bit smaller which is why I opt for an accessory item over two prints on two dominant pieces. If you try this a few times, you may start noticing how much you like certain prints together. Once you find one you really love, step it up a notch. For this outfit, I could add in a floral print pant or pencil skirt and then change my shoe to a solid color.
A couple other prints to play with other than stripes and floral are plaid and leopard, really any animal print. Try stripes paired with leopard, floral paired with plaid, or even mix two animal prints together.
What are your favorite two prints to mix together?

Lightweight Jackets for Spring

Happy Friday! I had such a productive week ya’ll! Yesterday, I took the day off from work and lived that full time blogger life. 😉 I attended a spring trends fashion brunch over at Neiman Marcus, and ya’ll I wanted all the things. So many cute new trends coming out for spring, I can’t wait. I shared a few of the outfits on Instastories, so you may still catch them up there this morning.
Yesterday, I started the day in beautiful sheer spring top and then had to come home and change into a sweater for my afternoon errands. It was the exact day I needed a cute lightweight jacket. This early spring time of year is when lightweight jackets become such a necessity. Something you can toss over your outfit for a cool morning or evening, and then wrap around your waist or throw over your bag for the warmer parts of the day.
During the spring, I wear my denim jacket so much. It really is the perfect lightweight jacket. I decided I should probably look at getting one or two more especially since I can probably wear them during the winter here too. My search started with utility jackets, another perfect spring jacket, and led me to this gorgeous light gray suede long jacket. It’s so the perfect spring color. The suede is pretty light so not going to be too warm. The open drape front and rolled sleeves lend an effortless Spring vibe to this jacket. In addition to amping up your casual jeans looks, you can also wear this over a dress for the office.
If you are looking to add a lightweight jacket or two to your closet this season, I shared a few more favorites below in a variety of styles from weekend to office. I hope ya’ll have a fabulous weekend! I have several plans with friends including a Galentine’s Day celebration and a friends’ birthday brunch. I see plenty champagne in my future this weekend!

Winter Date Night Outfit

Hello Hello! How was your weekend? We had the prettiest weather here in Houston! Saturday felt like Spring, so I joined a couple friends for an afternoon outdoors at a local brewery. It was packed, so it looked like everyone was taking advantage of the beautiful weather along with us.
This week we are back to our colder temps. I find one of the hardest things to dress for in winter is date nights. You want to look cute, but you also want to be warm. I tend to lean towards fitted, long sleeve, and boots. This winter date night outfit features one of my favorite fitted dresses. I own this dress in sleeveless and wear it so much during the spring and summer. The long sleeve version is perfect for dressing up or down, especially in the earth tone colors.
For a date night look, I added in my taupe suede boots for added warmth. You could also do heels too. I love the addition of rose gold jewelry with this burnt orange color. I think the two colors compliment each other really well.
On a cooler night, I would also add some sort of coat or jacket. A brown fitted leather jacket, ivory wool coat, or cute trench would work perfectly with this outfit. In Texas, bars and restaurants tend to be a little warmer inside to compensate for the cold outdoors. I take this into consideration when getting dressed, and usually don’t wear super thick sweaters. Instead opting for a fitted leather jacket that I can keep on or take off depending on the temp.
I hope these tips help when planning your next date night or even a girls dinner out. I wish you all a fabulous week ahead!

Light Brown Leather Jacket

I can’t believe we are here, but this is my last official post of 2018! I’m finishing out the year re-sharing my light brown leather jacket. I styled this on the blog earlier this year as perfect for Spring. As the year went on, I realized this is kind of the perfect jacket year round. The light brown color adds a chic vibe to my jewel toned and all black ensembles of fall and winter. It also blends well with the pastels of early spring.
I tossed this jacket in my bag for NYC as a last second add because I saw it was going to be cold the last few days I was there. It was perfect because it worked with everything from floral mini dresses to jeans and a tee.
Also, I have to mention the sleeveless turtleneck top. The website calls it a funnel neck which basically is just looser than a turtleneck. This top is perfect for all the layering! You can wear it under a blazer or cardigan and with denim or leather jackets. It pairs perfectly with jeans, but can also be tucked into a skirt for work. It comes in a few colors including black 😉 and is only $29!
Well, I’m officially signing off the blog until next year! Wherever the end of 2018 and beginning of 2019 finds you, I hope it finds you filled with joy and gratitude for all that ups and downs we survived of the past year and all the amazing that is coming! Happy New Year!
