One Year Blogiversary!!
Wow!! I cannot believe I have been writing this blog for a full year! It definitely does not seem like it!! I remember how excited I was this day last year to hit publish for the first time on my first post!! It really does feel like a few months ago, not a whole year. In my first year, I have learned a lot about blogging and met some fabulous people. I have loved sharing my everyday outfit inspiration with you. I love reading all your comments and seeing that I am giving you all some outfit ideas and inspiration. When I started this blog, I wanted to share my style and my love for shopping. I love seeing how Lady in Violet has grown over this past year, and I am soooo excited for some of the new, fun, and exciting things coming soon. I have to give a huge thanks to my family and friends who have given up weekends to take my photos, listened to me talk endlessly about some new cool blog thing I learned about or the fun ideas I have for my blog. AND Thanks to all of you for coming and reading my blog everyday!!
In celebration of my one year blogiversay, I wanted to look back over my past year at my top posts and personal favorites. Hope you enjoy and again thank so much for reading my blog everyday! It really means so much!!

Hello World!
I think my favorite post will always be my first post. It was the one that started it all. I had no idea what I was doing when I started my blog, and most days I still don’t have a clue. I just loved sharing outfit ideas and my love of shopping with wish lists and gift guides. I can’t say it enough, thanks for reading and all your comments. I am so appreciative to all of you for making Lady in Violet part of your week. Here is to another fun and fabulous year of blogging and all the fabulous places my little blog will go!

Happy Monday!! I’m not often excited for a Monday morning, but today I am excited to see some sunshine and get out of the house!! Thanks to Hurricane Patricia, it rained non-stop all weekend in Houston! I did all my errand running during the week so I would not have to leave the house all weekend in case it started flooding. While I’m excited to get out today, it was a little nice to stay cooped up all weekend with the background sounds of constant rain. I was also super blog productive, so get ready for some fun posts this week!!
One of my favorite things about fall fashion is the fall jewel tone colors. I love all the dark colors like a rich violet, a dark golden yellow, navy, burgundy, and dark olive. I shop so much more in fall just because I love all the colors! I really like how these jewel tone colors all mix together too. One of my latest color mixing crushes is olive and burgundy. You have to find just the right shades of these colors so it doesn’t look too Christmas. The burgundy of these shoes has a slight dark pink tone, so it mixed well with my olive tunic. Some of my other top fall color combos are navy and yellow, violet and yellow, burgundy and gray, and black and all of the above of course. I stopped in our local Express store last week, and they have so many sweaters and tops in these colors!! I didn’t have time to try on just browse, but over the weekend while I was in rainy day hibernation I ordered a couple pieces including this sweater! Now to patiently await its arrival…
Thanks for stopping by the blog today, and check back tomorrow for a very special post!!

Oh Hello Friday! How I have missed you!! It is almost riding boots season here in Houston, and I cannot wait to finally get to wear these boots!! One thing about Texas weather is that it can be 50 or 60 in the morning and then in the high 80s in the afternoon. I like finding light layering tops like this one that I can wear during this fall season transition. I picked this one up a few weeks ago from J Crew and love all the layering potential it has for fall and winter. You can wear it under light jackets, cardigans, or cropped sweaters. It also looks just as great when worn by itself. This makes it perfect for our weather right now because I will need to wear it both layered and stand alone all in one day for our drastic weather changes. Ya’ll these riding boots are still on sale, but the size options in this color are going fast! If you have been considering them, I personally love them and plan on styling them on the blog until spring so you will have plenty of style inspiration coming at you.
Some of my jewelry is from my Rocksbox subscription. If you have never heard of it, you basically pay a monthly fee of $19 and borrow 3 pieces of jewelry for however long you want. I have been doing it for like 6 months now and still love it. I tend to request specific styles or even pieces I want to try out. For this box, I asked for a long pendant necklace. I was excited to see this one arrive because I have been considering purchasing one. There is no obligation to buy any of the jewelry. You just wear it for a few weeks and then send it back and receive new jewelry. I like getting to try out the different styles of jewelry that I have considered purchasing from other stores. This necklace for example retails at about $70, but I can purchase through Rocksbox for $57. BUT I have been eyeing a super similar style from Baublebar for $38. So while I love this one, I’ll probably end up going with the cheaper option I found a few weeks back. I like that I had the trial and run option though! You can try it for one month free with code KARENROCKXOXO. Happy Friday Ya’ll!! Thanks for visiting the blog this week and don’t forget to check back next week as Lady in Violet turns ONE!

One of my favorite “I’m bored” activities is online window shopping. I love to head to online shopping sites and just peruse what they have available with no real intention to buy but just look. (Although somehow I usually end up buying something 🙂 )That is how I originally came across this boxy blouse. I was intrigued by both the shape and the print. I liked the oversized sleeve with a defined shape and the boxy fit of the body with an almost cropped top feel. The print is what really drew me in though. It reminded me a little of lightning strikes or tree roots. It is one of those prints that can act as both the statement and the under dog of an outfit. I was really torn on my favorite way to wear this boxy style top because it looks great with a skirt and skinny jeans. Don’t be surprised if you see this top styled again! Since the top is black and white, I loved bringing in color with my magenta skirt. This skirt color is sold out but I linked a super similar and under $20 version for you. I also have to mention that my top is only $17!! It is from Shein which is online site known for trendy fashion at a ridiculously affordable price! Despite the low price tag, I will say the quality on this blouse is top notch. This is my first piece from them, and I am definitely going back for more!!
