I’m pretty sure every fashion blogger bought this fall tunic and with good reason! It is the perfect fall piece that you can start wearing now!! Sunday is the last day to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, so if you have been contemplating any purchases time is almost up. Check out my posts HERE and HERE if you need some help navigating the sale. I have been debating whether or not to buy this top in white too. This olive color is definitely my favorite of all the color options. I love that I can pair it with skinny white denim and cognac wedges now, and then leggings and brown or black boots in the fall. The shirt is lightweight and easy to move around in. This top is going to be so perfect to layer which is why I kind of also want the white. I think you can never have too many white layering tops. You can also tuck the front of this top in to wear with shorts, but the back will probably hang past your shorts. It will change up the look a little and with shorts you can definitely start wearing now!
If you haven’t heard Kendra Scott released a new collection a couple weeks ago. I previewed the collection at the Southern Blog Society Conference, and have been patiently waiting for it to go on sell so I could snag these pink earrings. The shape of the earring is new for Kendra Scott and has Dubai influences. I love this pink color because in the sun it shines hot pink, but with my dark hair the color darkens a bit when I go inside. I love the hot pink and olive together! A summer earring and fall top creating that perfect season transitioning look!
Lady in Violet is undergoing a little makeover this weekend, so if you visit over the weekend and things look off that is why. Hopefully, everything will go smooth and I will have a fun new design for you to checkout on Monday. I’m so excited for the new look and can not wait to share with you all!! The overall layout isn’t really changing, this is just more of a cosmetic upgrade. If you are impatient like me, you can swing by over the weekend and see the changes in progress. Plaid, flannel, or buffalo check, I love it all! I love seeing the different colors mixed together in these shirts. I purchased this one years ago at Arden B because I loved this mix of the black, purple, red, and blue together. The material of this shirt is lightweight, so it works perfect in summer when paired with shorts or white denim. In the fall, I pair it with darker skinny jeans and boots. If you find a good material, plaid shirts can be worn year-round. I like to buy ones that are a little thinner because our warm weather last longer than others. I also try and make sure I can roll the sleeves to my elbow or a ¾ length comfortably. When the weather cools down, I love how these pair with leather or other fitted jackets and with long cardigans for a layered look. For summer, I sometimes will toss a plaid over a camisole or tube top and tie around my waist during the hotter parts of the day. This is also nice because while it is hot outside, everywhere is super cold inside. The one I’m wearing only buttons half way, but all the ones linked button all the way. I picked some with some really pretty color options! One is part of the Nordstrom Sale too! If you have been thinking about buying a pair of white denim, it might be just the right time! With the end of summer, I have been seeing them pop up on sale at many stores. These Lucky ones are on sale!!
After four fabulous days relaxing and eating our way through Austin, TX, this Monday is definitely going to be a hard one. But thanks to lots of coffee, I think I’ll make it. 🙂 Happy Monday!!

I talked a bit earlier this week about updating my arm stack, and one big missing piece of the puzzle was a watch. I struggled with picking one out because I wear multiple jewelry metals and could not decide which metal to buy a watch in. I’m not quite to the mixing metals stage yet. I heard about Jord Wood Watches and was definitely intrigued. I mean for starters I had never heard of a wood watch before, and I love finding new things that are not everywhere yet. Also, no which metal to go with decisions!! They have various wood colors from a neutral beige maple to a more natural brown to this gorgeous cherry color. I opted for this color because I wanted a watch that would stand out against my bracelets, but would also compliment all metal colors. When I wear this with gold, the warm cherry tones really shine, but toss on some silver and the cooler side of this color comes out. I just picked up a rose gold bangle and it was like a match made in heaven. This color also mixes well with my wardrobe colors from brown or black shoes to bright or neutral colors. Another little thing about this watch is that it is so light! Some watches feel heavy to me, and when you are adding multiple bracelets as well, weight matters! I chose one of the skinnier band versions, because I tend to stack up my bracelets especially on weekends. I mainly style this watch in the middle of my arm stack. I like the symmetry, and I think it helps the watch steal a little of the spotlight. If you like thicker watches, they have some different styles with thicker bands and faces. A trip to Galveston is not complete without a stop by the Strand! The Strand is basically a street of shops and restaurants. I love checking out some of the novelty stores to see what cute beach themed products they have in stock. I also ALWAYS stop by La King’s Confectionery for a sweet treat. This store is one part soda shop and one part candy store. Stepping in to the store is definitely stepping back in time. I always grab a bag of the saltwater taffy. If you go at the right time, you can even see them making the taffy right there in the store, and they usually toss out a couple samples to onlookers. I’m a peanut butter lover, so my taffy bag is usually like half this flavor. The Strand is also right next to the cruise ship terminal, so you will usually get a glimpse of one of Carnival Cruises mighty ships. If you time it right, you can also watch the ships as they sail away usually around 4 or 5pm. One of the newest and kind of interesting features on the strand and throughout Galveston is the Hurricane Ike water lines. Hurricane Ike hit in 2008 and devastated the entire island. Historic landmarks like the Balinese Room known for hosting the Rat Pack were completely destroyed. The Strand was majorly flooded with several feet of water. Today, several walls along the strand mark the water line from the flooding. Many businesses also include photos of their businesses after the Hurricane. I always find it interesting to stop and look at the pictures. You can really see just how resilient this city is.
You have probably noticed I don’t really do flats a lot, even in Charleston I walked around all day in my wedges, but to visit the Strand I usually opt for flats. This part of Galveston is over 100 years old, which means brick roads which are not always the easiest to walk on in wedges. Also, the street sits lower than the shops and sidewalks, so lots of taking a step or two up and down as you walk along. We stopped by the Strand before brunch one morning, so we could snap these photos before the crowds came in. I just purchased a new pair of white denim! I was wearing my other pair so much I figured it was time. I opted to buy a looser fitting pair and bonus they were on sale! These are meant to fit like boyfriend jeans, but I went one size down so they would be kind of a mix between skinny and boyfriend fit. I like the looser fit of the jeans, and how it allows for a little more breath-ability room on a warm day. I am also loving this kimono I recieved at SBSCon. Despite being July, there were definitely some nice breezes going on in the mornings. This kimono was perfect to toss on over my all white outfit. I also wore it over a sundress while lounging around our beach house. It was so comfy. I love the bright color, it’s perfect for summer.
The Historic Downtown area has some great restaurant options for brunch. On the day we snapped these photos, we went to our favorite, Mosquito Cafe. My favorite thing about this place is that they serve the very expensive Blue Mountain coffee for a not so expensive price plus refills! I always get something different when we visit, and I have never been disappointed. This place is popular so be prepared for a wait, but they are super efficient and keep things moving without diners feeling rushed. Another favorite of mine is Mod Coffeehouse. This cute little coffee house sits on Post Office, another popular street in Galveston for dining and bars. They have designed some really amazing latte flavors like the Grasshopper and Squirrel, my two personal favorites. I shared photos from both of these on my Instagram over the weekend. We also tried a new place Farley Girls Cafe. The people here were so sweet and really made you feel at home. The food was also amazing! While we were eating, some local firemen came in for brunch. I always think police and firemen know the really good places, so I considered it a good sign they were stopping in. Our food was amazing!! I had the Texas Eggs Benedict and it was sooo good that I finished the entire thing!!
