Layered Outfit for Spring

Hello Hello! How was your weekend? I went to a Luau themed party with my sorority Alum group and had so much fun! Other than that, I spent most of the weekend doing blog work, laundry, and watching Netflix/reading. I’m big on watching documentaries, so I watched the Amanda Knox one on Netflix. It was interesting to hear all sides of the story from Amanda to law enforcement to the journalists covering the case. If you have any Netflix recommendations, drop me a comment below! I’m always looking for something new to watch.
Now let’s talk about this outfit. It’s probably one of my go to ensembles and one I have featured here on the blog in a variety of different ways. It’s a reminder of what a good solid base for your closet can help you create. It includes mainly closet staples like a white tank top, cardigan, distressed jeans, booties, and a long pendant necklace. All are items that can be mixed with other pieces or combined together to create the perfect layered outfit for Spring. FYI on this cardigan, size down! I’m wearing an XXS.
I hope you all have a wonderful week ahead!

Happy April!! Ya’ll I had so much fun with my girlfriends’ this weekend! We surprised our friend that we were visiting with a mini birthday party, complete with balloons, cake, and party hats. We also learned that if you decide to wear your cute party hats to dinner, everyone who works at the restaurant will stop to chat. It was so fun! We ended the night with an old fashioned slumber party and an 80s movie. Definitely a weekend that I hope we repeat again!
Since ya’ll liked last month’s reader favorites post, I decided to make it a regular thing. Your March favorites included a repeat from February, and all items to show that we are very ready for Spring!! Which item was your favorite?
A reminder on how I figure out which items ya’ll loved –
I use an affiliate program called Rewardstyle. If you click on a link from my blog or social media that takes you to a product page on a retailer’s site, Rewardstyle is able to track that your visit to that site originated from me. The Rewardstyle affiliate program pays me a commission per purchase made. Basically, if you click on one of my links and end up making a purchase, I earn a small commission.
Because I use this service I also have access to certain data analytics. This means I can see and keep track of which items are clicked on and which lead to a purchase. I do not see who clicked on the link or what items might have been purchased. For example, if you click on my latest pair of heels and then purchase a new red lipstick too, I will only be able to see that a purchase was made and that the heels link is how you arrived to the retailer’s site. It’s kind of similar to how a salesperson may earn commission in the store.
I’m a numbers gal, so I love diving into all the data every month. These analytics allow me to keep track of what ya’ll loved and didn’t so much love. If I see one item is clicked on and/or purchased more, I might consider sharing a restyle over on Instagram. These commissions are an easy way for you to support my blog without having to do anything extra and a way for me to cover the variety of expenses that come with running a blog. So if you have ever made a purchase through one of my links know that I am so grateful for you and your support of my blog.

Casual Floral Top for Spring

Happy Friday!!! Ahhh so ready for this weekend, even though large portions of it will be filled with working on taxes, boo! It’s still the weekend though, and I can work on it with a glass of wine in hand. Yesterday, we had the prettiest Spring weather ya’ll! We have a little cold front coming through this weekend, but that little taste yesterday means I am pulling out all my wedges this weekend when I need a break from taxes.
One print I’m seeing tons of this Spring season is florals. Always a popular print for Spring, and I love seeing the different color variations and designs of the prints. I feel like this season has a delicate, feminine feel to the prints. This casual floral top is a good example of this floral print style. It’s a print you can dress up or down depending on your mood and plans for the day.
With this floral top, I styled it with jeans and my go to peep toe booties for a casual weekend look. You can also pair this with slacks or a pencil skirt to make it work for the office. Speaking of these booties, they are currently marked down! In the product description, it doesn’t mention anything about being on sale. But I went and looked back and I definitely paid $40 more than the current price. These booties are so good for Spring, Summer, and Fall. I wear them with jeans, skirts, and dresses.
Alright ya’ll, I hope you fabulous weekend!

An Easy Way to Mix Prints

We made it to Friday Ya’ll!!
Let’s talk about this outfit and my easy way to mix prints. I LOVE mixing prints usually opting for one print in my top and another in my bottom. If you are new to print mixing or not quite comfortable with it yet, I wanted to offer you a simple way to start mixing and build your confidence in your print mixing skills.
Start with your top and pick one print. For this outfit, I chose this fun side twist striped top. Then pick an accessory item, like a belt, shoes, or purse, to add in a secondary print. I added in my floral print shoes. FYI – I wear these floral heels SO MUCH! If you are considering a pair, do it!!! It’s amazing how many outfits you can make them work with, like this one for example.
The key to this easy print mix is to have one dominant print, the stripes in this look, and let your second print be a bit smaller which is why I opt for an accessory item over two prints on two dominant pieces. If you try this a few times, you may start noticing how much you like certain prints together. Once you find one you really love, step it up a notch. For this outfit, I could add in a floral print pant or pencil skirt and then change my shoe to a solid color.
A couple other prints to play with other than stripes and floral are plaid and leopard, really any animal print. Try stripes paired with leopard, floral paired with plaid, or even mix two animal prints together.
What are your favorite two prints to mix together?
