Umm how gorgeous is this skirt?!?!  I picked this skirt up at the Topshop Preview Party I mentioned on Friday.  This skirt and I were definitely love at first sight.  I have been working really hard to stick to my goal of adding more bright colors to my wardrobe.  I have not purchased one black or dark colored clothing item this spring!  It has been hard, but the amazing assortment of bright spring items is making it much easier.  I even picked up TWO bright and colorful skirts from Topshop.  I love the bright peach color of this midi skirt.  The color works beautifully with my darker chambray shirt.  I rolled up the sleeves to transform my chambray from a fall favorite to a spring staple.  I am a huge fan of pleats on a skirt.  It adds the perfect feminine detail to the skirt and creates beautiful movement when walking or twirling.  The pleated portion of the skirt is slightly sheer, but it has a matching above the knee slip underneath.  This little feature is going to be perfect for the hot days to come!  I have a few baby showers coming up this spring, and this skirt and chambray outfit is going to be perfect to wear to those events!  I added a nude wedge to keep my look casual, but you could easily add a nude heel to dress this look up a bit.  With these midi length skirts, I like to pick a nude shoe to create an illusion of longer legs.  It is a tried and true eye-trick that this petite girl loves to follow!  I hope everyone had a Happy Easter!  I spent the day enjoying time with family which was just perfect!

Last week, I was one of the lucky few to preview the brand new Topshop/Topman store in the Houston Galleria.  This is the first Topshop in Texas, and I am soooo happy it is in Houston!  I love European brands like Topshop, H&M and Mango, but European sizing is a bit different which makes ordering online a task at times.  Our local Nordstrom started carrying Topshop awhile back and I was so excited to finally be able to really shop this brand.  I love the style of their clothes and the affordable prices!  When I found out we would be getting a two-story Topshop, I was over the moon excited!  I have been somewhat patiently waiting for this store to open for what feels like forever!  I took my camera to snap a few pics, but the shopaholic in me took over and I ended up needing my hands to peruse all the amazing clothes.  I picked up a few awesome spring pieces that I hope to have up on the blog soon!  I did snap a few pics with my phone though, and the pictures are at the bottom of this post.

When deciding what to wear, I knew my latest Rocksbox statement necklace was the perfect piece to build my outfit around for the preview party.  I tried out the special request feature on the Rocksbox site for this box, and requested a statement necklace with no color.  This necklace was exactly what I had in mind.  In fact, this whole box was very me!  I have actually browsed websites looking at items very similar to all three of these pieces.  I decided to pair my necklace with this bold black and white gingham top from Zara.  I started the day out with the necklace over my shirt, but the fabric of the shirt and collar was not strong enough to hold the necklace in place.  I ended up unbuttoning a few buttons and letting the necklace rest just inside the shirt which turned out to be just as gorgeous.   I am so in love with this House of Harlow bracelet!  Of all three items, it is the one with the highest chance of not being returned to Rocksbox.  My FIRST MONTH FREE code LADYINVIOLETXOXO will be expiring in a few days, so if you want to try out this pretty fun jewelry subscription service for FREE on Rocksbox sign up soon!  After your first free month, the fee is only $19 a month!

I found the petite section!  That sequin mini skirt is fabulous and amazing! I just need to think of somewhere I can wear it!

I took this picture because I love that green dress! The top portion is the racer-back cut which I think is so flattering on different body types. I also love the blue lines to create a slimming illusion.

Spring Wish List: Cognac Wedges

Cognac Wedge Sandals

I have mentioned a time or two on this blog about my love for wedges.  With warm weather here, it was finally time to hit the stores and pick up a few new pairs!  If you follow my Instagram, you may have seen that I hit up my local DSW yesterday to peruse the wedges selection.  I knew I for sure wanted to add a cognac wedge sandal to my collection this year.  I have an older pair (from this post) that I wear all the time!  I definitely needed a second pair in this color to help balance the work load.  I like the cognac or tan/brown color because I think it compliments an array of skin tones.  With this being the end of winter, I am definitely a little paler than normal.  But by the end of summer, I plan to have a nice golden glow.  I think this color will compliment my skin tone now and through all the phases of building that perfect summer tan.  Before I headed into DSW, I did a little wedge research to see what was out there.   I shared some of my favorites that I came across and even included the pair I purchased yesterday (the Franco Sarto wedge)!  I also added a couple nude shades just because I really liked them.  One is a major splurge, so here is hoping I can find it on sale in September!  Happy Shoe Shopping!

OPI Nail Polish in Taylor Blue

A little over a month ago, I had the privilege of listening to one of the most inspiring keynote speakers that I have heard in some time.  When it comes to keynote speakers, I usually end up tuning out by the end.  The speaker was Tara Storch, co-founder of Taylor’s Gift Foundation.  I had no idea what I was in store for with this speaker.  By the time she was done, the entire room was in tears and thinking of one thing – how will we outlive ourselves.  Tara told the story of her 13-year old daughter Taylor who was killed in a tragic ski accident five years ago.  Taylor’s parents chose to help keep the spirit of their daughter alive by donating her organs to those who needed them.  Because of Taylor’s Gift, five people received a second chance at life including a mother of two.  The Storch family did not stop there.  They soon started the Taylor’s Gift Foundation to honor their daughter’s beautiful spirit and to help educate and inspire others to consider the gift of organ donation.  I will admit I am not an organ donor.  I have watched one too many made for TV movies that had me thinking absolutely no way.  Listening to Tara speak and debunk a few of the myths I listed as reasons I will not donate, has since had me reconsidering.  I have not yet registered as an organ donor, but for once I am not completely writing it off.  It is a big decision, one that I am thinking about much more lately.  Tara ended by asking us one question – How will you outlive yourself?  It is a question I have been thinking about ever since that afternoon.  To think that you give another person hope for a second chance at life is something pretty amazing.   What I found to be the most amazing thing from this whole story, is how this family took something so sad and tragic and turned it into something beautiful.   I find that to be the most inspiring part of this whole story and a huge reason why I wanted to share this story with you.    No matter what life throws at you, you will always come out on the other side.   I wanted to dedicate my entire post today to helping spread the inspiring message of the Taylor’s Gift Foundation.  April is National Donate Life Month, and the foundation has teamed up with OPI to offer this limited edition Taylor Blue nail polish.  The color is based on Taylor’s blue eyes. The partnership with OPI helped Taylor’s Gift launch the Legacy Gift program which supports those who have been touched by organ donation.  Proceeds from the Taylor Blue nail polish help fund the program and the Taylor’s Gift Mission.  If you would like to learn more about Taylor’s Gift Foundation, register to be an organ donor, or purchase the nail polish head to TaylorsGift.org.

The Taylor’s Gift Foundation did not ask me to write this post, I was just truly inspired by this family and wanted to help spread their message.
