Best Beauty Products of 2019

With 2019 coming to a close, it’s time to look back at mine and your favorites from this past year. This year, I upped my skincare game and tried tons of new products. I also started trying out a few new makeup products and routines to try and find one that was quick and easy. I found some hits and some misses, and some products that made there way into my regular rotation. Keep scrolling to see which products made my list of the Top 10 Best Beauty Products of 2019!
NYX Epic Ink Eyeliner – My sister recommended this eyeliner to me, and I’m obsessed with it! I have only used one other eyeliner since I started using this one. It easily glides on and stays put all day long. I never have issues with cross-transfer throughout the day. I wear lots of shiny eyeshadows and this one goes over the shadow perfectly.
Living Proof Heat Spray – I have used the same drugstore heat spray for years. Recently, I felt like my hair wasn’t as healthy, so I decided to change out some of my old tried and true products. First up, my heat spray. After just one use, I was hooked on this product. I spray a light mist prior to heat straightening. My hair looks smoother and has less frizz. I think it even straightens quicker. It’s too soon to tell on overall health improvement, but I’m liking the results so far.
c/o It Cosmetics CC+ Cream Foundation – I’ve been using this foundation for a few years. As much as a I experiment and try different foundation, I always come back to this one. It goes on smooth and covers really well. It has a natural look and lasts all day.
Anastasia Contour Kit – This contour kit is made for light/medium skintones. It’s perfect for me because I can use all the colors. It blends smoothly and gives a natural contoured look. Learn more about how I use this kit to contour my face HERE.
Beauty Bio Glo Pro – I started using this tool last December, and I’m still in love with it. I use this tool several times a week prior to my night time skincare routine. It helps your products soak in deeper and work more efficiently. I also use the body and lip attachment, and I’ve had good results with both. Learn more about my GloPro and how to use it HERE.
c/o Drunk Elephant Vitamin C Day Serum – Earlier this year, I committed to a month of a fully clean skincare routine. My skin was glowing after that month, and I’ve been trying even more clean makeup and skincare products since then. This vitamin c serum was one of my favorites in my clean skincare routine. I used it in the morning under my moisturizer. I noticed a big difference in my skintone evening out while using this product and reduction of dark spots. My skin glowed and looked healthier. Other Vitamin C products have irritated my skin, but I had no issues with this one. Read more about my clean skincare routine HERE.
Loving Tan 2 Hour Express Tanning Mousse – I’ve spent most of the year trying out a variety of self-tanners, some hits and some misses. (Spoiler – I have a full review of all the ones I tried coming next year!) My sister has been telling about Loving Tan for about a year or so now. I finally decided to spend the $50 and try it out myself. So far this tanner is top of my list. The color goes on well and lasts the longest. I didn’t notice a selftanner smell and no sheet staining. My only issue with this one is that it’s really hard to get your hands perfect. I had heard that about this one, and I’m still working on perfecting the art. Need help applying self tanning mousse? Check out my tutorial HERE.
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair – This serum is one of my favorites! I received a sample as a bonus after purchasing some beauty products. I tried it out and before I went to bed, I started seeing this serum do its work. My skin started looking almost instantly hydrated and glowing. By morning, my skin looked refreshed, plumped, and smooth. All adding to the reduction of fine lines. I decided I need a full size bottle of this and having been loving it ever since.
c/o Givenchy Loose Powder – I use this as a finishing powder to set my foundation and contouring. You have a few different color options with this one, I like using the one with some pinks in it. With all white powders, I find they do lighten up my ending makeup look a bit. This one doesn’t do that because of the addition of a little color. This one in my opinion gives the best smooth and airbrushed look.
Neutrogena Hydro Sheet Mask – A friend of mine has an obsession with skincare products, so when she tells me to put something on my face I listen. She insisted I try out this mask one night. It was my first sheet mask. The mask applied pretty easily and stayed in place slightly suctioning to your skin. All the hydrating goodness transferred across in the time I had this mask on. My skin looked hydrated and glowing, and I’ve been addicted to this mask ever since then.

Striped Tunic Sweater

Can you believe we are about one week away from Christmas?!?!? My shopping is done, but now the task of wrapping all the gifts! I like to pick a night, put on a Hallmark Christmas movie, pour a glass of wine, and make a fun night of it. I then put all the wrapped gifts away in my closet, so my dog will not chew on them while I’m at work. LOL. She’s so good and doesn’t chew on furniture or shoes, but she does love to chew on boxes.
My friends and I hit up a fun Christmas Light Walk this weekend. It’s a really fun event to attend. A local neighborhood shuts down a couple streets and all the houses do it up with lights, and we walk around and check them out. This week is filled with Christmas parties all around, so it’s going to be very festive week!
I’m kicking off this blog week with a simple casual outfit idea, perfect for those of us in warm winter climates. This striped tunic sweater is perfect with both jeans and leggings. I paired it with my leather leggings and boots for Thanksgiving! For today, I’m going with jeans and a few tan add ons. The top is a bit more ivory than white, so it works perfectly with the brown shades.
Also, I’m kind of madly in love with my new crossbody bag! It’s the perfect size for carrying on weekends. It holds all my weekend necessities – wallet, keys, sunglasses, phone, and lipstick. It comes in a few different color options, but I chose this tan one. This color will work year round and goes with tons of colors. I have another bag in this shade that I carried so much, but it was just a bit bigger. I really wanted a slightly smaller one, and this one is perfect!
Next week will be a busy week of holiday festivities and travel, so I’m doing something I haven’t done in forever – I’m taking the week off from blog posts! I love putting all the posts together, so it’s always hard for me to force myself to take a break. With lots of holiday plans on the schedule next week, I really wanted to be focused and present. As hard as it is to take a break, I am excited for the mini vacation. I will be doing some behind the scenes tech updates too. So if you are checking out the blog next week, and something seems off that might be why.
The rest of this week will be filled with my best of posts from beauty favorites to my favorite, the top posts of 2019. Then, I will be back December 30th with a look back at what I wore over the past month. I can’t believe it’s almost 2020! Hope you have a great week ahead!

Holiday Gift Guide: Combo Gift Ideas

| GIFT IDEAS |
COFFEE LOVER: travel mug | bag of coffee | gift card to coffee shop
SPA DAY: bath bombs | face mask | body butter lotion
TRAVELER: passport cover | sleep mask | cocktail carry on kit
WARM & COZY: beanie | gloves | scarf
Well, we are hitting that mid December mark. How is your holiday shopping going? Shipping deadlines for Christmas arrivals are slowly creeping closer, and today is the deadline for many ground shipping rates.
A few shipping deadlines per the UPS website for a 12/24 delivery:
Dec 13 – Last day to ship most ground deliveries
Dec 19 – Last day to ship via UPS 3 Day Select
Dec 20 – Last day to ship via UPS 2nd Day Air
Dec 23 – Last day to ship via UPS Next Day Air
When ordering from retailers, I would add a day or two to those deadlines to allow time for the retailer to prep your shipment.
I’m wrapping up my gift guide series with a few combo gift ideas. Many of these items you can find at local stores like Target or Walmart, or hello Amazon Prime 2Day shipping! I love combo gifts for friends, teachers, and coworkers. You can also take these ideas and make them work for your gifting needs. You can change the coffee lover to wine lover or tea lover or beer drinking lover by changing out the glass and beverage purchased.
The spa day is great for group gifting. The bath bombs come in pack of 6, so you can turn that into 6 gifts with a face mask and lotion. I think this one would be great if you are gifting multiple teachers or coworkers and want to give everyone the same thing.
For friends, family, or gift exchanges, the warm and cozy idea would be great! Plus, these are items you can find at many stores should you need a last minute gift idea. The traveler gift pack would also be great for a gift exchange or any friends or family that you know travel quite a bit or have a big trip planned for 2020.
You can add or remove from these gift packages to make them work for your gift budget too!

Beauty Trials: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer

(gifted by Hourglass, the decision to review and opinions shared are my own)
So many of my friends have raved about the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, and it’s always making the lists of top primers. I was super excited to finally get my hands on it to try it out. Before I jump into my review, let’s talk a little about what primer is used for in a makeup routine.
WHAT IS PRIMER?
Face primer is applied prior to applying your foundation. It helps smooth and even out your skin allowing foundation to apply smoother and last longer. It can reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and large pores, and prevents makeup from settling in these areas.
HOW DO I USE THE VEIL MINERAL PRIMER?
I apply my skincare moisturizer and let soak in for about 5 or more minutes. Then, I use 1 pump of the primer and apply over my entire face. I pump into my hand and then dot the primer over my face with a focus on areas like forehead, around eyes, and cheeks, pretty much any areas with fine lines and redness. A little of this product goes a long way, so pump just a small amount out. I then let the product settle and work its magic for a couple minutes before starting my makeup routine. I then start applying my foundation and continue through my normal makeup routine.
HOURGLASS VEIL MINERAL PRIMER REVIEW
This product definitely lives up to the hype. It smooths out the skin and fills in areas of fine lines. I noticed needing less foundation while using this primer. My foundation went on much smoother and quicker. Throughout the day, I noticed my makeup was not settling as much in lines on the forehead and around the eyes. I also felt my makeup still looked fresh at the end of the day.
A few other things I liked about this product –
The primer is soft and feels smooth as it glides on to your skin. It’s super lightweight, and it didn’t feel heavy at all.
It contains SPF 15. I try to use one SPF product in my morning routine, so I always love finding products with it.
Overall, I plan to keep this product as part of my makeup routine. It helped my makeup look fresh all day including from work day to date night. I used less foundation which will help that product last longer between buys.
Have you tried the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer? What were your thoughts on it?
