It’s no secret that I am not a big fan of winter. I hate being cold! My winter wardrobe game plan is always to stock up on cozy, warm, and comfy sweaters that are also cute. I found this sweater at the Nordstrom Sale over the weekend. I was drawn to the stripes, but when I saw the brand I knew I had to try it on. It is the same brand as my white tee from this post. The tee is soft and comfy, and this striped tee holds to that same soft and cozy feel. I like the kind of distressed look around the necklace and the bottom of the top. This top is going to perfect for lounging around the house or to toss on for some errand running. I originally grabbed a small, but it was way too big. I ended up going with the XS which is still nice and roomy. I am definitely going to have to keep an eye on the Stem brand at Nordstrom for some future wardrobe adds.
This bag has been on my current cravings list for months!! It was an unexpected Christmas gift, and I am so excited to finally own it. I really wanted a tote like this one for traveling and conferences. I love that is reversible with the other color being black. It comes in a few other color options, including this set that is on sale!
If any bloggers out there are looking for a fun blog conference, Thrive Blog Conference is happening at the end of February in Houston. Well technically The Woodlands, but almost Houston. I am attending again this year and cannot wait for a fun networking and learning weekend! This was the first blog conference I ever attended, and I made some amazing blog friendships and learned lots of valuable info that I still use today in my blog. You can read more about my experience last year here or you can visit the conference site here.

Chunky Knit Sweaters & OTK Boots

| DETAILS |
EXPRESS Marl Cable Tunic Sweater | DSTLD Skinny Jeans | DAISY STREET Over the Knee Boots [SIMILAR] | ELAINE TURNER Kassidy Crossbody Bag | MELINDA MARIA Feather Pendant Necklace | KENDRA SCOTT Skylar Earrings | LOREN HOPE Sarra Cuff | BAUBLEBAR Cuban Links Cuff, Pave Links Bracelet | RAYBAN Aviator Sunglasses | MAC Lipstick in Craving
They are here!! Remember when I mentioned my new OTK boots I ordered, they arrived last week!! I can’t wait to wear these boots this winter. I hope you were able to grab a pair when I first mentioned them, because they are sold out again. It probably has something to do with the sweet under $100 price tag. These boots are definitely a super trendy item, and not something I was ready to spend $200+ on. It is always my thought process with trendy items. What if it’s a one hit wonder trend or what if I decide it’s not for me? My first pair of skinny jeans cost me like $20 when they were the hot new trend, and now I own like half a dozen or more pairs. Anyway, these over the knee boots are pretty fabulous for the price. One thing I wasn’t expecting was how tight they fit. They are not an uncomfortable tight, more of a these aren’t going to fall down kind of tight. These have a bootie at the base and the boot shaft is more added on material. I think it helps give some structure to the ankle area of the boot. The two main ways I plan to wear them is with dresses and skinny jeans. I’m short, so I have to keep an eye on the length of what I pair them with. This chunky knit sweater is the perfect tunic length for me. If I go to long with the top, the proportions will be off and I may come off looking shorter. If you are wearing a longer top, you may want to consider tucking it in.
I just picked up this sweater this weekend, while doing some New Year’s day shopping. The color caught my eye immediately. The knit is a mix of red, coral, and white. It stood out among the sea of gray, blue, and black. Don’t get me wrong, you know I love those colors, but I also like to grab new colors too. It brings a little color versatility to my wardrobe. I like this shade because I think it is going to work well with a few other colors to give me some good versatility. I hope ya’ll had a fun long weekend! Thanks for stopping by today!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I hope you all had a fabulous night whether you went out or stayed in. I am so excited for this relaxing day off with plans to cook up some black eyed peas and cabbage later today, and finish off some leftover Champagne from last night. Hello New Year mimosas!
This outfit was one that I had originally planned to wear for Christmas, but it was too warm for a sweater. I love layering, and this red sweater and light top work perfect together. Shorter sweaters are perfect basic winter layering pieces. I own a few different styles in different colors. You can layer them with solids or prints to create multiple outfits all season. I have paired this one with plaid here. I also pair my sweaters with sleeveless tunics and tanks that I wore during the summer. It’s a great way to keep wearing some of your favorite sleeveless tops when it’s cold out.
I hope ya’ll have a great first day of 2016! Thanks for swinging by today!

A Look Back at 2015
Wow, I can’t believe it is already time to start a new year! I have always loved the start of a new year. The chance to kick bad habits and start some new good ones, to start fresh with a clean slate. It sounds super cheesy, but there is just something magical and hopeful about the start of a new year. I think it is also the perfect time to sit back and reflect on all the events of the past year. I love to look at where I was when the year started, and where I am now. To see how I have changed and grown, the new friends I have made, and the old friends who still keep hanging around.
One of my favorite parts of blogging is being able to have this little diary to look back on for the past year. I had fun looking back at old posts that I had long forgotten, outfit photos taken on fun trips, and to see how my blog has grown over this past year. I still have moments where I can’t believe that people seriously come to my little space and read my blog. It was this crazy idea I had for something fun to try out, and I can’t believe where it has taken me. I have loved creating and running Lady in Violet, and I am so excited to continue sharing outfit inspiration with you in 2016. Thank you so much for taking the time to make my little blog apart of your life. I appreciate your support more than words can say!
Now to the fun stuff! I loved putting this post together and seeing what the most popular posts were for each month. I hope you enjoy this little look back and maybe even see one of your favorites in the lineup!
